Melissa is an avid concert goer; she has been to over 300 lives shows. She is also an artist and before she became a therapist she actually was in Ryerson’s New Media Arts Programs. She loves visual arts, painting and creating art. She is also super outdoorsy and one of her favourite things to do is to discover Ontario’s fascinating trails!

Melissa is a registered clinical social worker offering individual counselling to adolescents and adults. She provides effective, client-centered, services to individuals facing a variety of life challenges at various stages in life.

 

As a therapist, Melissa works together with individuals to recognize their strengths, develop healthy coping skills and create positive life changes.

Through this collaborative approach, Melissa works to empower individuals to move forward in leading a more complete and fulfilling life.

With clinical experience in both hospital and community settings, Melissa specializes in mental health issues and crisis intervention. She provides treatment for a variety of issues such as anxiety and panic attacks, depression, mood issues, stress, burnout, life transitions, relationship issues, family related issues, self-esteem/self-image issues, disordered eating, and work/occupational stress/trauma related issues.

Melissa uses a variety of evidence based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness Approaches, and Solution-Focused Therapy in her practice.

After receiving an Honours Bachelors Degree in Social Work from Lakehead University, Melissa completed a Masters in Social Work at the University of Toronto where she specialized in Mental Health. 

She is professionally certified in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy as well as with Individual and Group Critical Incident Stress Management through the International Critical Incident Foundation.

 

Melissa is a registered member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
