Sandra Martey

Sometimes emotional issues of life events can preoccupy us or leave us feeling anxious, confused, angry or depressed. Maybe your feelings are affecting your work life balance, relationships or your overall ability to cope with your daily activities. Perhaps others around you are struggling to understand you or, you are experiencing difficulties in making sense of your own emotions. I work with teenagers, adults, couples and families providing therapeutic services for a wide range of mood related disorders to include depression, anxiety, substance abuse, family conflict, sexual abuse, bereavement, trauma, relationship difficulties and emotional distress related to motor vehicle accidents.

Having extensive clinical training and experiences, I apply an integrative approach to my practice as I draw from various therapeutic modalities to include, cognitive behavioural, solution focused and client directed informed therapy. I strive to assist you in untangling difficult thoughts, emotions, feelings, recognizing your strengths and developing healthy coping strategies initiating positive changes in your lives. In working with couples and assisting them in building stronger relationships, I assist them in exploring solutions, improve communication and addressing the various issues presenting as barriers in the relationship. Additionally, I ensure that each partner is allowed the opportunity to explore and share their feelings and concerns. In gaining an understanding of the context of your life struggles, both past and present, we will explore and identify thinking patterns that may be contributing to your emotional distress.

For most of my life I have learnt home to build resilience and work through my own insecurities to reach my long term goals. I can offer you a unique non judgemental approach to self awareness in a safe, supportive and confidential space away from your everyday life so that you can be free to explore your emotions.
