Background Summary

Most people don’t seek out therapy when life is easy! We reach out when something feels off, overwhelming, or too heavy to carry alone. It might show up as anxiety, disconnection, relationship struggles, or a quiet sense that something needs to change, even if you’re not sure what or how. Reaching out is often the first step toward clarity, and finding the right therapist can make all the difference. As a licensed psychologist with over a decade of clinical experience, I work with individuals and couples who are ready to explore the patterns holding them back and build the emotional tools needed to move forward.

My approach is grounded in evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Interpersonal Process Therapy. But beyond clinical tools, what I offer is a space where your inner world is treated with care. Whether you're facing anxiety, panic attacks, persistent low mood, shame, chronic stress, difficulty managing emotions, or going through a major life transition, my goal is to help you understand what’s happening beneath the surface, and support you in creating lasting, meaningful change.

My work supports people experiencing a wide range of emotional and relational concerns. Many clients come to me feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, emotionally disconnected, or caught in unresolved grief. Others are managing complex trauma, struggling with boundaries and co-dependency, or navigating major life transitions. I work closely with people facing burnout, career dissatisfaction, and relationship breakdowns, as well as those who simply feel stuck and unsure of their next step. I also bring particular sensitivity to those navigating identity questions related to gender, sexuality, race, neurodivergence, or culture, especially those who’ve felt unseen, misunderstood, or misread in other environments. Regardless of what brings you in, you’ll be met with curiosity, compassion, and respect for the full complexity of who you are.

In addition to therapy, I offer evaluations for mood and anxiety-related concerns, support documentation for academic or workplace accommodations, and gender transition assessments aligned with current standards of care. As a registered psychologist, I am qualified to diagnose a wide range of mental health conditions, and I approach that responsibility with both precision and care. Whether you're seeking formal diagnostic clarity or simply want a deeper understanding of your experiences, my assessment process is thorough, respectful, and empowering.

I earned my PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Kentucky, where my dissertation explored the psychological benefits of diversity in social networks. Throughout my career, I’ve presented at national conferences on suicide prevention, college mental health, and LGBTQ+ mental health. I’ve also served in leadership roles, as Director of a college counselling center (Skidmore College) and as a training director mentoring future psychologists at a large university (University at Albany).
Outside of my clinical work, I stay actively involved in mental health advocacy. I’ve participated in eight suicide prevention walks and have been honored to chair or co-chair six of them. I also enjoy music and the occasional karaoke night, reminders that healing can include joy, creativity, and community connection, too.

If you’re seeking a deeper connection to yourself, healing in your relationships, or clarity about your emotional landscape, I’d be honored to walk alongside you. Therapy isn’t about becoming someone else, it’s about coming home to who you’ve always been.
