Background Summary

Raelene enjoys everything outdoors where she can feel the tranquility and grounding elements of nature, a good science fiction novel that transports the mind and world music which she considers food for the soul.
Trust and connection are at the heart of every therapeutic journey. Together, we build a space where we can explore the patterns, histories, and systems that have shaped your path — from
family dynamics to cultural and societal influences. As we collaborate, your own strengths and healing strategies remain central, guiding the direction and pace of our work.
Therapy offers space for reflection, self-understanding, and self-compassion. In session, we will draw from a range of approaches to gently navigate the impacts of trauma, intergenerational
experiences, depression, anxiety, and other intersecting concerns. Using cognitive, behavioral, emotion-focused, narrative, experiential, culturally grounded, and trauma-aware modalities, we will deepen understanding and tailor each session to align with your values and goals.
My own life has included major transitions — moving between countries, navigating pre- and post-natal experiences, motherhood, and building a life between and across cultures. These experiences have shaped the respect, humility, and commitment I bring to this work. Growing up in the Caribbean and later building a family and career in Canada, I’ve been guided by diverse cultural perspectives; reminding me that every person’s path is layered, often unpredictable, and deserving of deep respect. I bring this understanding into every interaction.
For over 20 years, I have been honoured to work in a variety of community health, hospital, corporate, and social service settings. As a proud alumna of both York University (B.A. Hons) and University of Toronto OISE (M.Ed. in Counselling Psychology), I bring both academic training and practical experience to my work — driven by a commitment to serve Ontario communities while maintaining a global perspective through international partnerships.
It has been a privilege to support individuals, couples, and groups as they navigate trauma, depression, anxiety, personality-related challenges, and the complex intersections of chronic physical and mental health. Central to my work is an anti-oppression stance: I actively address the effects of racism, discrimination, immigration and resettlement stress, systemic barriers, violence, pain, and torture — all of which deeply influence mental health. I approach each person’s story with care, cultural humility, and a steadfast commitment to honoring their full context.
I will walk beside you as we explore the experiences and patterns that have shaped your journey.
Together, we will build on your strengths and insights to create meaningful steps toward the outcomes you hope for. I am honored to meet you and look forward to discovering ways we can lighten burdens, navigate challenges, and help you move forward in ways that feel real, authentic, and true to you.
"There is no such thing as a single-issue struggle because we do not live single-issue lives," writer and activist Audre Lorde
