Vanessa is a registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist. She holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Toronto Metropolitan University. Vanessa has considerable experience supporting individuals with mental health conditions, completing a two-year psychotherapy internship at Mount Sinai Hospital, combined with ten years of outpatient mental health experience.
Vanessa offers a supportive and confidential space to explore your concerns with kindness, curiosity, and compassion. Vanessa's approach to therapy is eclectic, incorporating elements of person-centered therapy, emotion-focused therapy, attachment theory, mindfulness, and self-compassion. Vanessa believes that achieving positive outcomes for her clients is deeply rooted in a strong therapeutic alliance built on empathy, genuineness, trust, and collaboration.
While Vanessa's therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based practice, she is an attuned therapist who takes cues from her clients and gently incorporates opportunities for mindfulness, grounding, and experiential processing of emotions in session. Vanessa has also begun to explore training in polyvagal theory and the mind-body connection, and she enjoys supporting clients to shift from states of disconnection to embodied awareness. Vanessa's practice is holistic, strength-based, trauma-informed, and affirming of LGBTQ2S+ identities.
If you are looking for a therapist to support you during a stressful time or life transition, if you are feeling stuck, or are looking to explore your emotions or past experiences in a safe and non-judgmental space, Vanessa would be happy to meet you and explore if she would be a good fit.
